- Abstract
The map displays the geological cartography of central Tampico-Misantla basin, and geochronological database of igneous Cenozoic rocks in the area. The rock units are organized as chronostratigraphic units as reported by previous authors. All the pre-Cenozoic sedimentary units, continental and marine, were grouped as Permian-Cretaceous sediments, considering that all reported igneous rocks are of Cenozoic age. The layer of geochronology correspond to K-Ar ages (from Ferrari et al., 2005). The map also shows the Late Cretaceous-early Cenozoic major folds and reverse faults and major Cenozoic normal faults.

- Purpose
This work was done to draw attention to the volcanic and intrusive cenozoic rocks of the Eastern Mexican Alkaline province in central Tampico-Misantla basin, where research traditionally has focused on stratigraphy and hydrocarbons. Is believed that the map will be a valuable tool that will serve as foundation for the advancement of geological knowledge of east-central Mexico.
